Cradle hold – The baby lies across your chest with their head resting in the bend of your arm.
Sit in a comfortable chair or on a bed with good back support.
Place your baby across your chest, tummy facing you.
Rest the baby’s head in the bend of the arm on the same side as the breast you are feeding from.
Support the baby’s neck, shoulders, and back gently with your arm and hand.
Hold the baby’s bottom with your forearm for extra stability.
Bring the baby close so their nose is level with your nipple.
Wait for the baby to open their mouth wide before latching.
Ensure the baby’s chin touches the breast first for a deep latch.
Keep the baby’s ear, shoulder, and hip in a straight line for comfort.
Adjust pillows or your arm position to stay relaxed during the feed.
